One of the best things about Invisalign aligners is that they’re clear. This means that they’re very discreet and no one may even notice you’re wearing them. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll stay that way if you don’t take care of them. If you want them to remain nearly invisible, you’ve got to keep them clean. Here are some tips for protecting your aligners during your treatment!

Scrub Up

The best way to keep your Invisalign aligners clean is by brushing them daily. To do this, you’ll need to remove them from your mouth and brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush (not the one you use on your teeth) and a gentle, non-abrasive toothpaste. Be sure to brush all sides, and then rinse them well before putting them back in your mouth.

Take a Soak

Another great way to keep your aligners clean is with a retainer or Invisalign branded soak. These can help dissolve plaque and loosen debris and should be done in conjunction with brushing them.

Rinse, Repeat

While you don’t need to brush them every time you remove them, you do need to at least rinse them off with water each time you take them out. This will remove any saliva or debris, and will prevent them from tasting or smelling bad when you go to put them back in.

Brush Up

Finally, your aligners are only as clean as your teeth. Thus, it is important to keep your teeth clean while wearing them. Remove them each time you eat or drink anything but water, and be sure to brush and floss your teeth after each meal before you put them back in.

Remember, Invisalign is meant to be clear and unnoticeable, but your trays won’t look good for long if you don’t keep them clean. Don’t let poor maintenance draw unwanted attention to your teeth. Try these useful tips and your aligners will always look as good as new.
